Future Transport Strategy 2056 Transport affects everyone, which is why the Future Transport Strategy 2056 and Plans were created with input from the community since the program began in 2016. We reached out to people across the state in face-to-face and digital consultations to gauge their reactions, hear their feedback and most importantly get their ideas for what we'll need now and into the future. Future Transport 2056 is an update of NSW’s Long Term Transport Master Plan. It is a suite of strategies and plans for transport developed in concert with the Greater Sydney Commission’s Sydney Region Plan , Infrastructure NSW’s State Infrastructure Strategy , and the Department of Planning and Environment’s regional plans , to provide an integrated vision for the state. Future Transport 2056 Services and Infrastructure Plans (SIPs) set out more than 300 initiatives to be delivered in the first 10 years of the 40 year vision – 197 in Regional NSW and 107 in Greater Sydney. Future Transport 2056 is an update of the 2012 Long Term Transport Master Plan and consists of three draft documents: the Future Transport Strategy, the Greater Sydney Services and Infrastructure Plan and the Regional NSW Services and Infrastructure Plan. The Draft Future Transport Strategy 2056 (the Strategy) makes reference to technology and communications driving economic and housing growth and in turn activating regional and metropolitan centres. The draft Future Transport Strategy proposes (p.21) that Gosford and Wollongong will be “satellite cities” by 2056, and will have connections to Greater Sydney with “fast transit”.
